Pianist Marilyn Nonken, "determined protector of important music" (New York Times) explores in concert how technology changes our sense of time, consciousness, and sonic reality. Ellen Fishman's RUPTURES (2018) examines the relationship of sounds, shadow sounds, and timekeepers, inspired in part by her work with the spectralist Gérard Grisey. After this elegant prelude, Marilyn performs Alvin Lucier's MUSIC FOR PIANO WITH PURE WAVE, SLOW SWEEP OSCILLATORS (2010), which she recorded in 2003, in its new, one-hour version.
